Vespula

Vespula spp. include the Vespula vulgaris, Vespula germanica and Vespula rufa. The Vespula germanica and Vespula vulgaris are the two most common species of Vespula found in the UK. Their features can sometimes look quite similar, so you will need to watch the videos carefully to establish their differences. The Vespula rufa is far less common but should be fairly easy to distinguish from the other two Vespula spp. due to the number of spots on its thorax and the rusty-red colour that can be seen on its abdomen.
